2010/11 crop shipment period extended
Alcotexa, the Egyptian exporters’ association, has extended the shipment period for 2010/11 crop registrations until the end of September.
A highly volatile market has persisted, both in respect of prices ruling for the domestic new crop and the availability of imported cottons.
During the week ended February 12, Alcotexa, the exporters’ association, registered a further 3,866 tonnes, bringing the season’s cumulative export sales commitment to date to 103,960.50 tonnes.
According to data from the Alexandria Cotton Exporters’ Association (Alcotexa), almost 71.5 percent of the amount of raw cotton committed for export had either been dispatched by May 7, or advance payments had been received, versus less than 58 percent a week earlier.
